The Process

  • The process may vary depending on where the unclaimed assets are located, the complexity of your claim, state laws, and other government agency requirements. Below is a general summary.

  • Once we receive the enrollment forms from the Notary, we prepare a complete information package of case details. This information is sent to your attorney who will prepare legal documents and file your claim. You will be mailed a copy of the enrollment forms, as well as contact information for your attorney.
  • Next is for the court to conduct a Hearing, at which your attorney will appear either in person or via video conference before the Judge to present your claim. Usually, the Judge will make an immediate determination.
  • Assuming your claim is approved, the Judge will direct the company or government agency to release the money owed to you. This entity then sends a check to your attorney, who deposits it in their Trust Bank Account. The attorney deducts their legal fee and then sends a check to you and Surplus Recovery Agents, LLC. This process is called a “trust account disbursement.”
